Site Preparation and Grading in Waco

Every build starts with the ground under it. Mauricesklar strips and stockpiles topsoil, balances the cut and fill, and grades a raw parcel from rough to finish so pad elevations, drainage slopes, and the compacted subgrade all match the engineer’s plan. We run laser and GPS grade control on the machines so the surface off a road like Bosque Boulevard comes in true.

Why Grading to Plan Matters

A pad that sits high, low, or off slope shows up at the first inspection and can send a crew back to redig. We grade to the surveyed elevations, keep positive drainage away from the structure, and compact structural fill in controlled lifts to 95 percent of maximum dry density, verified with a Standard Proctor (ASTM D698) test. That density keeps a slab or footing from settling later.

Our Process

We walk the site, confirm the grading and stormwater plan, and file the 811 locate before any dirt moves. Then we strip topsoil, cut and fill to balance the earthwork, install silt fence and inlet protection where a SWPPP applies, and hand off a clean, build ready subgrade with the density reports the inspector wants.
